How it’s made
At The White Vanda, our name may be inspired by the graceful White Vanda orchid, but our expertise is rooted in the hands-on knowledge of our makers.
Our rattan pieces are not only beautiful — they are the result of a considered process that combines tradition, quality and respect for the natural world.
Every step, from sourcing raw material to final packaging, reflects our commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship and responsible production.
Crafted with Care
Our rattan product manufacturing process is carefully structured to ensure high quality, consistency and integrity at every stage.
Raw Material Sourcing
We use only natural rattan vines, sourced from sustainably managed forests and certified suppliers. Mature vines are selected for their strength, flexibility and longevity.
Processing the Rattan
Once harvested, the rattan is cleaned and stripped of impurities. It is then divided into two key materials: the rattan core and the outer skin, both essential to the strength and aesthetic of our products.
Handweaving the Rattan
Skilled artisans handweave the raw materials into semi-finished pieces, using traditional techniques passed down through generations. Each weave is shaped with care and precision, according to our design specifications.
Made with the planet in mind
Rattan is a fast-growing, renewable vine — and a naturally sustainable material. But we do not stop there. We have built our entire production process around minimising environmental impact.
Community Empowerment
By partnering with artisan communities, we support local economies and preserve environmentally respectful craft traditions. From start to finish, we aim to tread lightly — creating pieces that are not just beautiful to look at, but honest in how they are made.
Sustainable Sourcing
We only use rattan from renewable, responsibly managed forests that support re-growth and long-term forest preservation.
Low-Impact Processes

Waste Reduction
Offcuts and scraps are reused wherever possible or composted to avoid waste.
Simple.
Natural.
Beautiful.
